At The Chian Federation, we are dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Greek-American people native to Chios. Through fostering a sense of community, promoting cultural exchange, and providing educational opportunities, we strive to honor our roots, strengthen bonds among Chians in the diaspora, and share the beauty and traditions of our heritage with future generations.
About us
The Chian Federation impacts a wide range of Chians. The Federation is dedicated to educating the public on cultural as well as political matters relating to Chios and Greece as a whole.
The initial mission of The Federation was to raise awareness of the vulnerable border position that the island has with its neighbor Turkey. In light of the Turkish occupation of Cyprus in 1974, our founders’ concern for Chios enduring a similar fate, created the Chian Federation to raise awareness of our vulnerable position in the Aegean. They aimed to influence the political sphere to never allow the same to happen to Chios.
As we evolve, we carry on a compassionate mission to benefit our youth as an organization. We do this through programs such as traditional folk Greek dance classes for both children and adults, scholarship fundraising events, our coveted Homeric and Ionian Award galas, and our involvement in the Greek Independence Day Parade.
